Live Review: Boys Noize at the Mezzanine

Berlin-based producer/DJ Boys Noize brought his one of a kind sound to a receptive San Francisco crowd during his sold out show at Mezzanine on Saturday presented by Eye Heart SF and Deck Star Evets.

Boys Noize, aka Alexander Ridha, has been DJing since an early age, mastering the art Djing on vinyl first, then transitioning to CDJs when he began creating tracks and touring around the world.

In addition to favorites like “Azid,” “Drummer” and “Yeah” to close Ridha played a number of unreleased tracks that thumped through Mezzanine’s sound system.

Ridha has become someone who has transcend the term ‘DJ set’ into essentially a live set due to the lack of technology onstage, which allows him show off his technical skill, a great asset next to a great catalog of hits dating back to 2004.

Alex DJs with freedom, passion, and most importantly intelligence. The amount of pure focus he exercises in his set is so intense, he creates an energy independent of the music. You can feel his passion and enjoyment exuded through his stage presence, while his knowledge of technique enhances the sound, tempo, and bounce in an quality set. Boys Noize put on of the best EDM shows in San Francisco this year.
