The weekend fun starts a little early and with a bang thanks to performances and workshops at one of the largest Latin dance events in Northern California.

Today (November 17th) marks the beginning of the 10th Annual International San Francisco Salsa Congress, an event that is expected to bring more than 4,000 people to Oakland (go figure) for three nights of dancing, music and a special live performance by Nuyorican salsa artist Willie Colon on Saturday night. Dancers from countries around the globe including Columbia, Japan, Italy and Canada will be on hand to teach more than 45 workshops covering everything from Bachata to Zumba.
