The tropical bass subgenre of moombahton has been taking the world by storm and it’s really no better experienced than live, spun by the DJs producing the hits themselves. Check out some of the local moombah heavyweights spinning their own tunes this Thursday at Public Works.
Moombahton – a combo of dutch house and reggaeton music – is set around 108bpm, with syncopated rhythms to make you shake your hips and get down in the sexiest of ways.
Local producer and tastemaker DJ Theory has been a leader in the moombah movement, with tracks appearing on several compilations such as “Moombahsoul” Vols. I, II, & III, “Moombah Marauders”, and Mick Boogie’s recent mixtape for HBO’s “How to Make it in America” Season 2.
DJ Theory will be joined by local duo Manics, also hard hitters in the global moombah scene.
The International ft. DJ Theory & Manics also with Bootyklap, Baan, & Ear Jerker is Thursday, Nov 10 at Public Works. Doors at 9pm and free entry before 11pm. More info.
