President Obama to Make Quick Stop in SF

As part of a West Coast tour, President Barack Obama will be making a brief stop in San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon for a campaign fundraiser.

The president will be attending a lunch fundraiser at the W Hotel. Tickets for the event – in which Jack Johnson will be performing – start at $5,000 a person. Campaign officials said roughly 200 people are expected to attend the event.

The anti-war group, The World Can’t Wait, is planning a rally outside the hotel to protest. It is still uncertain if the Occupy SF protesters will do the same.

President Obama is scheduled to arrive at San Francisco International Airport around 12:45 p.m. and will leave the Bay Area just after 3:00, when he will be traveling to Denver for more fundraisers in the evening.

Plan accordingly and expect heavy traffic in the area around the W Hotel this afternoon as well as SFO. Several streets will be shutdown between 11:30 and 4:00 in San Francisco: northbound Third Street from Folsom to Mission, southbound New Montgomery between Mission and Howard, Hawthorne between Howard and Folsom and the intersection of Third and Howard streets.
