Umami Union Update

There’s about to be a whole lot more cow in the Cow Hollow as Umami Burger (2184 Union Street) finally gets set to open the doors to it’s brand new, 65-seat restaurant and bar on Friday, October 7th.

Lauded by GQ Magazine as the country’s best hamburger, Umami has proliferated throughout LA County over the past few years. The new location on Union Street is their first foray outside of Los Angeles and although the core of their original menu will remain intact, owner Adam Fleischman has made it clear that some modifications will be made to reflect local San Francisco vendors, including a selection of local wines and craft beers. This means that my ultimate goal of enjoying the World’s Best Beer alongside one of the World’s greatest hamburgers is within reach!

An Umami spokesman declared that they’re “not content to be known just as the Best Burger in America, Fleischman wants to be known as the best burger in San Francisco.”

After months of heated anticipation we shall soon know, once-and-for-all, how this beloved bastion of beef stacks up against the rest.
