It’s Thursday! Which means the weekend is only two days away, leaving little time to come up with a stellar idea for that date you’ve got Saturday night. Even if you don’t have a date per se, hopefully you’ve got a friend, and fortunately for you (for all of us really), “Top Gun” (1986) is screening for free in Mission Dolores Park as part of the “Film Night in the Park” summer outdoor movie series. Good weather and a movie with a tough, cool female lead (Kelly McGillis)… what’s not to love?

Perhaps fighting stylish, twenty-somethings for optimal space on the grass. But never mind that! Arrive early with a picnic blanket, snacks, an appreciation for aviator glasses and a young Meg Ryan (she’s got a cameo and a fantastically horrible platinum hairdo). You’re in for a seemingly ideal Saturday night.
