This weekend head to Treasure Island to watch as over 120 of dragon boat racing teams compete at the San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival. But that’s not all, this festival also includes fun cultural activities, live music and dance, international food, arts & crafts, and other vendors.

Dragon boat racing has deep historic roots, going back over 2,000 years to the southern provinces of China and is one of the earliest known forms of boat racing. Hop on one of the free shuttles departing to Treasure Island every 15 from 4th & Mission and Kearny & Sacramento to watch these long, ornamental boats of 20 paddlers combine elements of power, speed and synchronization to cross the finish line faster that their competition.

Between races enjoy performances such as Chinese acrobatics, Taiko drumming and magic shows. Nibble on Thai, Hawaiian, Vietnamese, and seafood while you browse vendors with crafts, Chinese cultural gifts and paddling gear. The festival runs all weekend.
