Zine Fest

Celebrate the small-press movement this weekend at Zine Fest, a showcase of zines, comics, art books, and more. Over 150 writers, cartoonists, crafters, illustrators, printmakers, and all manner of artists will be there selling, trading and sharing their work.

This festival is not just for spectators. For the DIY crowd, Zine Fest has some awesome craft workshops. On Saturday learn to make a soft-felt case for your electronic devices at DIY Gadget Cases (12-12:50pm) and stick around for Bookbinding: Basics and Beyond (1-2pm). Come back on Sunday for Intro to Screenprinting (12:30-1:30pm). And by the way, these workshops are all free! Interested on creating a zine of your own? Attend a few panels (also free) like Memoir Comics: Life In Ink (Sat 4-4:50pm) and Graphic Journos in Conversation (Sun 3-3:50pm) to learn more about the edgy art form. Any type of artist can benefit from attending Making Time: An Artist’s Forum (Sun 4-4:50pm), where artists discuss how they manage their time, organize their projects, and get their goals accomplished.
