Locanda Set to Open in Mission

One of the more highly-anticipated San Francisco restaurants is set to open on Saturday as Locanda takes over the former Ramblas space in the Mission District.

The Delfina team of Craig and Annie Stoll are opening the traditional Roman osteria with former Pizzeria Delfina chef Anthony Strong heading the kitchen.

The Tablehopper has a more detailed look at the menu, which is expected to be heavy on “authentic Roman cuisine while integrating local and seasonal ingredients.” Ms. Tablehopper goes on to explain that Strong spent time recently in “the kitchen of Osteria di San Cesario…gaining a good understanding of the dishes and cuisine of Lazio.”

Locanda will also have a full bar with the cocktail menu being put together by consultant Eric Alperin of The Varnish in Los Angeles. Expect a wine list filled with wines from California, France and Italy as well.

Locanda will begin service at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
