Redd, Red Wine

Going up to Napa anytime soon? You’d be a fool to miss out on Redd in scenic Yountville (6480 Washington St). With a can’t-miss shortlist of scrumptious small plates, you’ll get to indulge your senses on several creative reconfigurations of culinary classics…like their take on steamed pork buns or a crispy duck confit accompanied by foie gras meatballs and a savory spaetzle.

One of my personal favorites, the braised beef shortribs are slowcooked to perfection; a carnivore’s delight served with thick bits of bacon and fingerling potatoes bathed in a delectable red wine jus.

Looking to satisfy a seafood craving? Redd’s menu features exquisite caramelized diver scallops in a cauliflower purée almost as splendid to look at as to devour. Almost.

Oh, and please do yourself and everyone in your party a favor: don’t miss out on the killer desserts here. The vanilla bean bread pudding–drowning in a saturation of strawberry syrup–is the stuff dreams are made of. And of course their chocolate cake has been known to bring women to tears:

For dinner Redd offers a $75 tasting of around 9 plates that can be complimented by a selection of magnificent local wines for an additional fee of $45–the perfect way to end the day in this wonderland of fine libations.
