Twitter to Stay?

Are they staying or going? That is the question on everyone’s mind (well, not everyone, but those who care about keeping businesses in San Francisco are definitely fretting). So – will Twitter leave their Soma digs for greener pastures in the Peninsula or will they be true to their roots and stay in SF? The city isn’t leaving the decision up to chance and is doing everything in its power to keep Twitter put.

The Chronicle reports that, “Supervisor Jane Kim introduced legislation…to give tax incentives to existing businesses – and any that relocate to the area – that hire new workers.

“The legislation is designed in part to keep Twitter, outgrowing its current digs on Folsom Street, from heading down the Peninsula by offering a six-year payroll tax exemption on net new jobs for businesses from 11th Street almost to Fifth Street and an adjacent area in the Tenderloin bounded roughly by Mason, Geary, Polk and McAllister streets.”
