Can I Borrow Your E-book?

This may be the coolest thing to happen to the ebook digital revolution since…well, the iPad. In fact, it may even be better. Ebooks bought through Amazon’s Kindle store (through which the site sells its digital books) can now be loaned out for up to 14 days. Now you can send a friend one of your fav ebooks for free! But, like all good things, there’s a catch. According to Amazon, not all books are lendable – it is up to the publisher or rights holder to determine which titles are eligible for lending.

The whole process is as easy as a few clicks. In order to find out if your recently purchased ebook is lendable, there’ll be a “Loan this book” button next to your book image in your Amazon account. Titles that are eligible for lending, as determined by the publisher or rights holder, will indicate so under the product details. And the best part – “The borrower does not need to own a Kindle — Kindle books can also be read using our free Kindle reading applications for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices.”
