Rainbow Cookies

Rainbow cookies are an Italian American holiday tradition. Where I grew up, in good ol’ Yonkers, NY, you could find them in every bakery in abundance. Sadly, as Chronicle staff writer Sophie Brickman points out, they are a rare if not wholly extinct commodity here in SF.

The one and only place at which she managed to find them was Pi Bar, 1432 Valencia @24th. She also decided to whip some up herself, here’s the recipe.
