Celebrate the closing night of the 2009 International Black Women's Film Festival with inspiration, hope and change! A showcase of emerging talent performs in the Sister Soul Showcase. Rounding out the closing night are two west coast premieres, and our closing film, New York 45!

New York 45 is by veteran filmmaker and IBWFF alumn Jacques Zanetti!

His film is about how 45 people from different races, backgrounds and classes, perceive their city, New York City, along with all of its tragedy, complexity and wonder. 45 very different New Yorkers create a common voice… A real human voice… 20 born and raised New Yorkers, 11 new Americans and the rest, Americans but born in other states.

A magnificent testament and document of the heart and soul of New York City, post-9/11, and on the brink of change to a new President. Inspirational and an ode to the American spirit!

-DEF DANCE JAM (2008, USA - Documentary)
16 minutes
An intimate short documentary about the Def Dance Jam Workshop, a nonprofit organization in Harlem, New York, that brings the differently-abled and conventially abled communities together through dance.

-THE HANDS (2008, USA - Short) - Premiere!
