| Description It is our pleasure to invite you, the people of San Francisco, to enjoy a vibrant array of films and to jive through a titilatting music line up. The Frozen Film Festival showcases independent film makers and musicians. We creep into the night with live music concerts, well crafted films of all kinds: animations, global features, documentaries, skate films, and music videos. Films we are screening this year:
FRIDAY JULY 10th: 5:00 pm -- "1906: A City and it's People Defying Nature" The only feature documentary ever made about the 1906 fires and earthquakes. 6:25 pm -- "Alcatraz Reunion" Traces the history of the iconic island, and its mysterious transformation from notorious prison to tourist mecca. Ex inmates and their cell house guards are invited back for an "Alcatraz Alumni Gathering". 7:50 pm -- "Best Surf and Skate Films of 2009" Features: Jack Johnson, Benji Weatherley, Tony Hawk, among others! 9:00 pm -- "The Snake" The funniest movie about dating a bulimic... possibly ever. "The Snake" is a homegrown indie about an inveterate womanizer in a post-feminist world, complete with a cameo by a screaming Margaret Cho. 10:30pm -- "2009 Best Animated Shorts" Featuring prior Sundance winner Don Hertzfeldt's new animated film "I Am So Proud of You: The Existential Life of A Stick Figure". SATURDAY JULY 11th: 12:00pm -- "Best Experimental Short Films of 2009" 12:45pm -- Israel and Palestine Conflict Documentaries Films from the “Peace it Together” program that brought Israeli, Palestinian and Canadian teen agers together to make dramatic, documentary or animated short films about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. 2:40 pm -- "Best Dramatic Short Films of 2009" Dramatic short films from China, the US and beyond about love, life, lust and hate-mail. 4:15 pm -- "Best Short Docs 2009" A collection of short documentaries that feature environmental movements to protect iguanas, a Leonard Cohen project to protect homeless people in Canada, a history of camouflage in the fashion industry, and a blind Sherriff in the south. 6:05 pm -- "The Dhamma Brothers" Documents the extraordinary convergence of an overcrowded, understaffed maximum-security prison -- considered the end of the line in the Alabama correctional system -- and an ancient meditation program. East meets West in the Deep South. 7:30 pm -- "Best Spanish Short Films of 2009" A wonderful collection of dramatic and comedic exceptional short films from Spain. Subtitled in English. 8:40 pm -- Music Documentaries: "The Silence in Between" Find out about George Clinton- Dr. Funkadelic himself- from aband that went on tour with him and his legendary band Parliament Funk. "Where You From" a rap documentary that Features a series of white rappers, with their struggle to be accepted by the hip hop community, and their personal, raceless experience of hip-hop. 10:35pm -- "Best Comedic Short Films of 2009" For pleasure, knowledge, and great fun - do come to the Frozen Film Festival! |
