Free activities on Saturday, April 30th include performances and demonstrations showcasing the diversity of dance in India including: Bhangra, a Punjabi Folk Dance; Bharatanatyam, a South Indian Classical Dance; Garba & Raas, a Gujarati Folk Dance; and Kathak, North India’s classic dance. There will also be authentic Indian cuisine, along with hands-on demonstrations of Sari wrapping, henna painting, and for children, an Indian decorative design activity. The Cultural Fair will be held 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., and admission is FREE.

On Saturday May 21st, 2005 at 8:00 p.m., the renowned Chitresh Das Dance Company will present a special Kathak dance performance preceded by a Q&A session from 7:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.. Chitresh Das Dance Company (CDDC) is comprised of dancers whose abilities exemplify the vision of Chitresh Das—one of the great masters of Kathak—evocative and powerful, bringing both the richness of ancient India and a fiery, awe-inspiring technique.
