18th San Francisco Independent Film Festival

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Wow, IndieFest is 18 this year. We never thought it’d make it this far. And now it's all grown up! (Us, maybe not so much.) In keeping with this dubious maturity, we have some adult programs, sure, but lots and lots of the fun stuff you know and love.

We kick off the fest on Feb 11 at Brava Theater with FRANK AND CINDY, director G.J. Echternkamp’s personal retelling of his late teen years and his relationship with his mother, Cindy (Rene Russo), and his step-father, Frank (Oliver Platt) a member of a one hit wonder 80s band that never went anywhere. The after party is at Dance Mission, featuring an open bar, DJ Shindog from New Wave City with the 80s/90s one hit wonders dance mix, and some special surprises!

If you don't already know, we at SF IndieFest LOVE music.  And the fun folks over at Noise Pop LOVE film.  As irreverent twins in the Bay Area arts and culture scene, this year we have decided to meet at the intersection of our goings on and present a spotlight of MUSIC IN FILM during the second weekend of the film festival.

We also have a sidebar we are calling FANTASTIC AND FAR OUT FLICKS. Films designed to shock, surprise and disturb you. This program of unique and bizarre movies plays at the Roxie and the Alamo Drafthouse.

And Parties! And Special Events! Like:
Our annual SUPER BOWL: MEN IN TIGHTS comedy show where we play the game live at the Roxie while a slew of local comedians provide largely inaccurate play by play commentary.

Our BIG LEBOWSKI PARTY, this year presented at Brava Theater with Bawdy Caste (who perform Rocy Horror every month at The Clay) performing The Big Lebowski LIVE, ON STAGE, while the movie plays on screen behind them.

Our Anti-Valentine’s Day POWER BALLAD SING A LONG party, for those of us that just can't stand Valentine's Day. Fortunately, there is an entire genre of music made just for our pain, and it just happens to also be the most badass music ever: POWER BALLADS.

And IndieFest’s newest monthly show kicks off during IndieFest with JAMCON ‘16: THE MOVIE ROAST OF SPACE JAM. The Dark Room’s Bad Movie Night folks give SPACE JAM a 20th anniversary ribbing.

The BAD ART GALLERY is back as well, with a hosted bar, some great short films and some bad, bad art on the walls. Come check it out.

ALL IS REVEALED at sfindie.com. Tickets, trailers, what have you.
IndieFest 2016 is getting turned up to 11. See you there!
