10th Annual People's Earth Day & Grand Opening of Ecology Education Center

Come join the largest environmental justice empowerment celebration in Bayview Hunters Point history! Not only will we be celebrating the 10th Annual People’s Earth Day, but we will also be hosting the Grand Opening of a cutting edge EcoCenter at Heron’s Head Park. It is the first and only “green” facility in southeast San Francisco, and the first and only environmental justice education center in the Bay Area.

Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) has been expressing and addressing the Bayview Hunters Point community’s ecological and health concerns for over a decade. Over the years, People’s Earth Day has been a joyous way of spreading understanding and appreciation for the principles that encourage justice and sustainability in our community. The 10th Annual People’s Earth Day will be an anniversary filled with live music, great food, community based talent, special guests TBA, and a celebration of our community’s brand new EcoCenter.

LEJ youth will be offering interactive tours of the EcoCenter throughout the day. Come see how the EcoCenter uses renewable energy, pollution and greenhouse gas reduction, wastewater treatment, and “green” building materials to stay “off-grid.”
