Marcel Surreal
Born into a musical family, Sly & the Family Stone, Marcel was cultured with soulful sounds beginning in his early childhood, around the time when he began to dance (breaking).
Marcel was introduced to electronic music in his early teenage years, while at the same time being introduced to other styles of dance practiced at underground parties, one genre in particular later called house dancing.
Marcel also became a dj of this electronic music as a teenager, beginning with disco house and deep tech, on vinyl records, at small local raves. He later threw his first underground rave at the age of 19.
Over the years Marcel continued to learn other styles of dance, international genres of music, and different forms of percussion from Brazil, The Caribbean, the Middle East, and West Africa.
Marcel was the first resident dj for Open House in Los Angeles, Days like this in Oakland, and House Dance Sacramento, dj'ing primarily for dancers, and has performed at events with Louie Vega, Osunlade, Nickodemus, Oveous, Juliet Mendoza, Kapela, Coflo, Adam Gibbons, Selectress Iriela, Oscar P, Mr. V, Ezel, and many other renowned dj's and music producers at dance based events like as Soul Camp, Mi Casa Holiday, Utopia Tribe, and Mera Mera Conexion Housera.
As a dancer, dj, and percussionist, Marcel's goal in playing music is to inspire dance/movement, to uplift, and to bring joy to both the dancer and the music lover.
